After a lifetime of working in the art world mainly in the fields of
painting, printmaking and photography, I came to world of
jewellery some 20 years ago.
I find that all of my past training and work comes into play in my
jewellery. Drawing on my experience I might use techniques from
etching, painting or sculpture in my pieces. I often use found objects
such as rusted bottle caps, collected on my walks in the streets of San
Miguel, Mexico, or a washer found on the ground in Soho in New York
City.
Drawing on my love of nature, the latest series "A Walk on the Beach"
uses objects found while walking on beaches in Mexico, Canada, and
other countries I have visited in my travels. Besides sterling silver and
other precious and semi-precious metals, these pieces might use a
bone, a pebble, or a shell, sand washed smooth. My Haiku necklace
uses two haikus that I wrote about my beloved Hornby Island in British
Columbia combined with etching.
Some of my pieces are tongue in cheek, playful but all executed with
loving care each piece handmade and unique.
I continue to work in painting and photography as well as jewellery.
I’m now enjoying working in my newly renovated studio on Hornby
Island in British Columbia Canada.
